The best time varies depending on your interests. The Dry Season (June to October) is generally considered the best for wildlife viewing as animals congregate around water sources and the vegetation is thinner. This is also when the Great Migration is most active in the Northern Serengeti. The Green Season (November to May) offers stunning emerald landscapes, incredible bird watching, and is the calving season for wildebeest (usually February). It's also less crowded and offers better value for luxury lodges.
Health requirements can change, so we always recommend consulting a travel clinic or your doctor 4-6 weeks before departure. A Yellow Fever certificate is mandatory if you are arriving from a country with risk of transmission. Standard recommended vaccinations include Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, and Polio. Malaria prophylaxis is essential for all safari areas in Tanzania; your doctor can prescribe the most suitable option (e.g., Malarone or Doxycycline). Additionally, don't forget to pack a high-quality insect repellent containing DEET.
Absolutely. Safaris are incredibly safe provided you adhere to the National Park regulations and your guide's expert instructions. Our guides are highly trained professionals who understand animal behavior and prioritize your safety at all times. In your vehicle, you are safe as long as you remain inside and keep a respectful distance. Outside of the parks, Tanzania is one of Africa’s most stable and peaceful nations, and Tanzanians are renowned for their warm hospitality towards visitors.
Most international visitors require a tourist visa. We strongly recommend applying for an Online E-Visa (via the official Tanzania Immigration website) at least 2 weeks before your trip to save time at the airport. Alternatively, visas are available on arrival at Kilimanjaro (JRO) and Dar es Salaam (DAR) airports. A standard tourist visa costs $50 USD for most nationalities, while US citizens pay $100 USD for a multiple-entry visa. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from your date of entry.

Safaris are one of the most enriching family experiences imaginable. While there is no strict lower age limit, we generally recommend safaris for children aged 5 and older, as they tend to enjoy the longer drives more and can better follow safety instructions.
